Ms. Princy Mol A. P. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at Sacred Heart College, Thevara. She has been a part of the institution since June 1, 2016, bringing with her over ten years of teaching experience in the field of plant sciences. Prior to joining Sacred Heart College, she served as an Assistant Professor (FIP) at MA College, Kothamangalam from February to May 2016 and as a Guest Lecturer at the same institution from January 2015 to January 2016. Her academic and professional journey reflects a consistent commitment to teaching excellence and botanical research.

 

She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. under Mahatma Gandhi University, with a research focus on mangrove ecosystems. Her research aligns with her broader academic interests, which include natural fiber extraction and characterization, microtechnique, microbiology and palynology.

 

An alumnus of Sacred Heart College, Thevara, she completed both her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Botany under Mahatma Gandhi University, securing second rank in the university for both degrees. Her academic excellence has been recognized with several awards, including merit certificates for being the best student in botany during both her undergraduate and postgraduate years.

 

She has also qualified the prestigious CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for lectureship multiple times—in June 2014, December 2014, and June 2015. Her achievements include winning the first prize in the M.Sc. paper presentation competition conducted by the Kerala Botanical Society and receiving the UGC Postgraduate Merit Scholarship awarded to university rank holders.

 

Beyond her academic and research responsibilities, she is actively involved in extracurricular and student development initiatives. She currently serves as the Faculty Coordinator of the Primrose Nature Club of Sacred Heart College, fostering environmental awareness and sustainability practices among students. She has also previously held the role of Faculty Coordinator of SWASTI, the college’s Women’s Cell, where she contributed to programs aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women within the campus community.

 

She is also a life member of The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) (Membership No. : L40476; Sec : Plant Sci.), reflecting her continued engagement with the broader scientific community and her commitment to advancing science education and research.
